How to Audit a B2B Answer Page

Review reader intent, factual support, practical instructions and public delivery. Turn findings into an owned fix list with acceptance conditions.

AI Summary: Audit a B2B answer page by checking its reader task, factual support, practical steps and public delivery. A useful audit produces a prioritized fix list with an owner and an acceptance condition, rather than an unexplained AI-readiness score. Freeways proposes the Page–Claim–Action checklist below. Passing this review establishes completed checks, not an AI citation result.

TL;DR

Choose a real published page and the buyer question it should answer. Inspect the exact content returned, trace the factual statements to sources and test whether a reader can follow the explanation. Assign fixes by their effect on comprehension and trust, then verify the changed public URL.

Keep this editorial review separate from a full technical website audit. A page-level check can find an unclear answer, missing source or broken link. It cannot establish the health of every route, prove crawler identity or predict how all AI systems will use the content.

Set the Audit Boundary

Record the page URL, review date, intended reader and task. State whether the audit includes the human-readable page, a text alternative or both. Preserve the version reviewed so later changes do not become part of an undocumented finding.

Google’s people-first content guidance supports reviewing whether content is useful to its intended audience. It does not validate this checklist or create a numerical quality threshold. Treat the audit as a publisher’s working procedure.

Google’s AI search guidance says its AI features have no additional technical requirements. Avoid replacing ordinary content and delivery checks with an invented special schema or a claimed universal optimization score.

Run the Page–Claim–Action Checklist

This is a proposed Freeways audit method. Download the blank page-audit worksheet. Each finding should contain evidence, a proposed change and a way to verify it. A reviewer should be able to inspect the same page and understand the finding.

| Check | Inspect | Acceptance condition | | --- | --- | --- | | Reader task | Title, opening answer and promised scope | They describe the same buyer decision | | Claim support | Numbers, company facts and platform rules | Each material statement has inspected support | | Practical action | Inputs, steps, conditions and example | A reader can identify what to do next | | Delivery | Returned body, links and canonical address | The intended public page can be read | | Ownership | Correction route and update record | Someone is accountable for material changes |

Use the worksheet to record pass, needs work or not checked. An unchecked item should remain visible. A page can be published with a clearly disclosed scope limit, but it should not claim that an omitted inspection was completed.

Inspect the Opening Answer

Compare the title with the first substantive paragraph. Does the paragraph answer the named question, or does it introduce a broad topic? Can it stand alone without turning a qualified recommendation into an unconditional assertion?

For a hypothetical page about selecting a GEO provider, an opening that says only “AI is changing marketing” does not answer the procurement question. A revised opening can name the criteria: scoped deliverables, source verification, observation methods and ownership. This is a disclosed editorial example, not measured client work.

Preserve meaningful limitations near the relevant statement. If an offer applies only to a particular scope or term, include that condition when discussing the offer. If the page describes reported rather than independently measured results, make that distinction visible where the results appear.

Trace the Material Claims

Mark factual statements about prices, credentials, platform behavior and outcomes. Open the sources and identify exactly what they support. A company source can support what the company advertises; it does not automatically prove delivery performance or superiority over alternatives.

Check tables and summaries as carefully as prose. A cautious body paragraph can be undermined by an unqualified table label. Look for terms such as verified, best or proven and identify the evidence and scope required by each one.

When support is missing, remove the claim, narrow it or label the uncertainty. Do not solve the gap by attaching an unrelated reputable source. The important connection is between the exact statement and the source’s relevant content.

Test the Instructions

Read the procedure as someone implementing it. Identify the required input, action, output and condition that would stop or change the process. If a step says “optimize for citations,” ask what the reader is supposed to inspect or change and what record would establish completion.

A useful acceptance condition could be that a corrected business statement matches an approved source on the public page. Another could be that a worksheet records prompt conditions and complete answers. Neither condition establishes a citation unless a separate answer observation contains one.

Test examples for invented experience. A hypothetical demonstration should say that it is hypothetical. A client example needs permission and a supporting project record. Do not convert a teaching scenario into a testimonial during editing.

Prioritize and Recheck

Prioritize material errors and access failures before cosmetic changes. Then address incomplete answers, unsupported comparisons and unclear next steps. Assign an owner to each action and preserve the reason for its priority.

After a change, inspect the public URL again. Check that the revised statement, link or answer is present. If only the local document was reviewed, say so. A completed change log helps distinguish a publication error from a subsequent platform observation.

Freeways Agency publishes this checklist and offers related services. The worksheet can support an internal review or a scoped vendor brief. It does not provide an independent rating of Freeways, and its completion is not a promise of AI visibility.

FAQ

Does this replace a technical SEO audit?

No. It reviews the declared page and its answer. Site-wide infrastructure, access controls and other technical dependencies require their own scoped checks.

Should we assign a single readiness score?

A finding list with evidence and acceptance conditions is more inspectable. A score needs a declared method and should not conceal unchecked items or unsupported assumptions.

How often should the page be reviewed?

Review it when material facts, offer conditions or referenced guidance change, and according to your recorded editorial schedule. Update the review date only after an actual inspection.
